Home is often considered the starting place of love, hope, and dreams, and every child deserves to grow up in one. However, in Nigeria, over 8 million children are homeless and left to survive on their own from infancy without proper guidance. They learn to fend for themselves on the streets with the future seeming like a distant dream for them.
Every corner of the country has children in need of love, care, and housing. This is why our Managing Director, Mr. Segun Olaye, decided to make a change. In 2020, he came up with the idea of creating an orphanage as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project for the company. The project began that same year and was completed in two years. On January 31, 2023, we successfully opened the Ayoola Foundation and Orphanage Home, which was attended by the board members, staff, clergy, friends, and well-wishers.
Our vision for the orphanage is to bring up young children from the age of two and instill in them the values of respect, honesty, kindness, resilience, and discipline. We want to nurture their minds and bodies to be strong and prepare them for success in the future. We aim to train bright minds that will serve as leaders and positive members of the community and the country.
The orphanage can house 100 children, and we plan to accommodate more in the future. We have a crèche, nursery, and primary school, and when it’s time for a child to receive a secondary education, we will partner with schools whose core values align with those of the foundation.
We have set up the orphanage in a way that we don’t need to seek donations, but we welcome anyone or any organization looking to support us. The home is financed by Ayoola Foods and the Managing Director. It is located in Idimu, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
